Reading List:

Young Adult Fantasy: Miss Peregrine's Home For Peculiar Children

This book has such a different feel that really draws the reader into the story. Ransom Riggs incorporates pictures into his storytelling to help enhance the reader's experience, which I think is really neat. This novel follows the life of a boy named Jacob who realizes that like his grandfather, he is a pecular child who must find others like himself. Together the children set out to stop the "Hollows" who are plaguing their world.

Adult Classic Fiction: The Great Gatsby

This is a novel that everyone who went to high school probably read. I read it my junior year and absoutely loved it. I loved Gatsby's determination to get Daisy. Gatsby really inspired me to go all out and follow my dreams because maybe things didn't end up so great for him, but he never gave up and I thought that was a very admirable quality.

Poetry Novel: Death Coming Up The Hill

When I had to read this for one of my classes, I didnt quite know what to expect. A poetry book about war wasn't something that sounded too intriguing, but I pushed through, and boy, am I glad I did. This book is a series of hikus that tells the story of an American citizen and his experience during 1968. 1968 was the bloodiest year for American soldiers during the Vietnam War, and the coolest part of this novel is that every syllable in the story represents one American soldier who's life was lost during that year. It is a startling read that leaves you thinking about its message and meaning long after you close its pages.

I am always reading something new so feel free to checkout my Goodreads shelves to see what new stories I have read recently. The link is listed below.
