Interview Questions:

What are your goals for the future?

My end goal is to be a high school English teacher, who is able to inspire my students to want to excel in their work, and to help them develop a love of reading. I believe that teachers hold great influential power in the lives of their students and I hope to be able to use that power for good. I want to read great books in my classroom and have meaningful discussions about their contents with my students. I want my students to leave my classroom with a better understanding of literature, and therefore a better understanding of themselves.

Describe your work style.

Recently I have found that I work more efficiently under pressure. This wasn’t something I ever really thought pertained to myself because the term working under pressure just sounds so stressful. But with the heavy school load I had this semester, I have been finding myself making lists and checking things off in an effort to get everything done on time. If I have ever had some down time I usually find myself fidgeting often and wondering if I am missing something I should be doing or getting bored with the lack of demanding tasks.

If you could have dinner with any person (alive or dead) who would it be?

I think that if I could choose anyone dead or alive to have dinner with I would choose Cleopatra. I think that she is a great example of leadership. When the Roman Empire was trying to expand itself into Egypt she befriended some of their powerful leaders and was able to align some of the most influential countries together as partners. Not only did she save Egypt, but she was also a woman in a world largely dominated by men and she was still able to be influential and retain her power.
